Why Camp Lane is called Camp Lane
The name is linked by Birmingham City Council to the Royalist army camped in Kings Norton during the Civil War.

Street names often preserve memories long after the landscape changes. Birmingham City Council's Kings Norton history links Camp Lane directly to the Civil War visit of Queen Henrietta Maria and the Royalist soldiers who camped behind St Nicolas Church.
The Council notes that roads in the area commemorate the visit, specifically giving Camp Lane as an example. In other words, one of today's everyday road names points back to a 17th-century military encampment.
It is a good example of how local history survives in plain sight — not in a museum case, but on a street sign.
